Everyone to 45!

Hi,

Had a fun week playing GW2. I did the daily each day on either Blondy or Ranger, and leveled the whole stable of characters. I didn't do any crafting this week. I just concentrated on gathering mats and leveling.

One thing I did was to make 30g without really trying. I think the star of getting that much gold was Iron Ore. Iron Ore sells for about 2s 60-70c each. With the zones my characters were leveling in, it was a great little earner. I still don't have enough for more gems though. Maybe in a couple more weeks. Or if I really tried to make gold, by farming Iron Ore, or doing lots of Malchor's Leap and Straits of Devastation, or by farming World Bosses, I could get it a lot quicker. But that would take away from the time to level, and that's what I like to do at the moment.

Asurabrit made some more Jute bags for my characters this week, but she ran out of Jute, so filling them all out with 8 slot bags will have to wait.

Most of the leveling was done in Hirathi Highlands. But when it looked like they'd get to 45 before finishing it, I headed off to other zones, and did some stuff there, before completing it.

Oh, one thing I did with gems was to buy a shared bag slot for 700. This has the Copper Fed Salvage tool in it. All the characters aren't using it yet, because they need to use up salvage kits they already have on them.

I did play Rangerbrit quite a bit this week, getting her geared up. I finally figured out where to get Berserker gear for her, and made it to the Temple of Silence in Straits of Devastation to buy lots of them. She's now got plenty of Exotics, and is building up Karma to get more.

Back...With Mixed Results

Yay, back to GW2, after not having played for about 2 and a half years.

Why mixed results, you might ask.

Well, let's start with the good. I got back in the swing of things doing the Daily and a few World Bosses on Blondy. Very nice. The new daily system is really good. As a PVE player, it does force me to do 3/5, but they give great rewards, and 2g a day is nice too.

Oh, and the logging in rewards? Fantastic. I looked up on the wiki what you get every 28 days, and it's pretty amazing.

So, apart from some 80 stuff on Blondy, I leveled a couple of others this week. I got Asurabrit to 59 and raised up her Tailoring a bit. Then I realized I needed more Linen and so I went back to my lower level ones and leveled Necrobrit up to 38. The goal will be to get them all to 50 and beyond so that Asura can continue on her Tailoring. I must say, I found Necromancer a lot easier to play than Elementalist, so it will be good taking a break from Asura for a while.

Now for the bad.

I tried to complete the Personal Story on Blondy. It was going OK, until I hit a brick wall at the Mouth of Zhaitan. What a horrible fight. First, the pillars were horrible and took ages to get down. Then I hardly damaged the Mouth before dying. I just quit the instance, and don't know if I'll ever be back.

The other things is - Gem prices. What the heck. When I last played, it was about 40g for 400 Gems. Now it's up to about 110-120g!! Yikes. I guess they have put more gold in the game with the daily and login rewards, so I think that accounts for the inflation.

Overall, I do enjoy GW2 and can see myself playing it for quite a while. There are lots of things I want to get with Gems, and lots of characters to level to 80. I considered getting HoT, but decided against it, because it's not my kind of content. The difficulty is high, by all accounts, and I find regular GW2 difficult enough.

Well, this might be it

Hi,

Well, after playing on Friday, I didn't touch GW2 on Saturday, Sunday, or this morning. It doesn't look good for GW2 as Wildstar is one hell of a fun and engrossing game. It went live on Saturday. So, I really don't know if I'll be so wrapped up in Wildstar that I won't be playing GW2 any more, or whether I will still play some GW2 along with Wildstar.

With that being said, I focused mainly on Crafting this week. I did actually farm Seasoned Wood on Blondy, and had fun doing it. Got to do a bit more zone completion also.

Blondy also did World Bosses, and the other activity was leveling Charrly.

I'll have more details in this post later in the week, because I didn't prepare like normal by getting all the info ready.

Next week. Who knows. Maybe some GW2, or maybe none at all.

Time will tell.

Everyone to 35

Yep, I did complete my plan for this week, getting all my characters to at least 35. The last was Necrobrit, who completed Gendarren Fields at level 32, but did the Fields of Ruin for a bit to get to 35.

Charrly has now moved past 35 leveling in Hirathi Hinterlands. A bit disappointed that the trees are still Gummo, but the Seasoned Wood ones will appear soon enough. I don't know if I should just get the right tools for one of my 80s and get the Seasoned Wood, or just wait for it to come naturally with Necro and Charrly.

I continued with World Bosses on Blondy, and added the Jungle Wurm. I also tried the Gollem Mark II once, but died almost immediately and didn't get loot. I think I'll give that one a pass. Blondy also tried out the Queen's Pavillion, but oh boy, what a flop. The bosses were really tough, and after about and hour, the event was completed at Bronze, netting 6 Champion bags. I could have done 4 World Bosses in that time, or way more than 6 champions. Just not worth the effort for the reward as far as I'm concerned.

I forgot about getting Ranger more gear, because I haven't been playing her. I'm just accumulating the Karma for later. I also keep forgetting to buy stuff with Guild Influence. I have tons of influence now.

A Wildstar Interlude, Cupcake!

Oh Yeah! Played the Wildstar beta quite a bit this week, so progress in GW2 was pretty minimal. All that I'll say about it is that I did buy a copy, and I'm looking forward to playing on May 31st. But I'm planning on splitting my time between Wildstar and GW2, so I will continue to make progress.

Most of the stuff I did this week was on Blondy and Ranger. Blondy did 4 World Bosses most days, and Ranger did maybe 1 or 2. I did get back up to 40g with all the stuff I got, and bought over 400 gems more. I've got nearly 1300 now.

I leveled Asura just a bit, focusing on her as my next 80. She's hit Iron Marshes now. But then I decided to get Charrly and Necro to 35 and into Hirathi Highlands, so I stopped playing her.

Charrly completed Gendarren Fields, and is closing in on 35. Doing a bit more personal story, and some stuff in the zone where that takes place should suffice.

For next week, it should be a full GW2 week, because Wildstar beta is over. My plan is to get Charrly to 35, get Necro to 35 and to continue to do plenty of World Bosses.

Two Level 80s!!

That's right. It only took a couple of days to get Ranger to 80. She then explored Malchor's Leap a bit to get a few of the temples open, and bought a couple of pieces of Karma gear. Now I'm poor on Karma again and will have to wait to get more gear for her. The Ranger is certainly fun, and my second favorite right now. I even did a couple of world bosses with her, and Ranger seems very effective.

Speaking of World bosses, Blondy has a couple more figured out, and now is on a good schedule. Maw -> Ugloth -> Fire Ele. Then dinner, and then Shadow Behemoth. Here's what it looks like doing Maw :)

That's Blondy in the foreground. She's been making the most of the gold I have. Lot's of gear from the World bosses goes for about 30-40s and it all starts adding up. With the gold I get, I'm buying gems, ready to improve my overall account once things go on sale. I was surprised that the gems for 10g dropped below 100, so I didn't buy. Fortunately, it was back up to 105 on Sunday, so I bought 40g worth. I have nearly 900 gems now.

Other than this, both Silvy and Asura have leveled this week. I was leveling Silvy and realized I really didn't want her to be my next 80. So, I fired up Asura and have been leveling her a lot. Elemental takes a bit of getting used to, but I think I'm getting the hang of it now.

I also tried leveling Artificing a bit more, but got stuck because I didn't have enough Seasoned Wood. So, I need to get more characters in the Tier 3 areas. That can wait though.

So, I'm now at 354/560, an increase of 14 since last week. Let me tell you why that's a bit low. I've actually been playing a bit of the Wildstar Beta each night since it went open beta. It's actually quite fun, so maybe there will be a My Life On Planet Nexus soon :)

The plan for next week is to continue leveling Asura, do more World bosses on Blondy and Ranger, and perhaps level the lower level characters into Tier 3 areas.

Ranger, Ranger, Ranger

That's right, it's all about Rangerbrit and getting to 80 (soon hopefully). I spent a lot of time on Ranger over the last week, and got her to level 74. She's now in Frostgorge Sound and going for completion. I've found this a pretty tough zone to figure out. You go north from a 71/72 area and suddenly all the mobs are level 80! Anyway, with the help of the internet, starting to figure it all out. Ranger is fun, and it will be good to see what it's like at 80. Knowing that you can only get loot from World Bosses once a day per character, it will be nice to be able to do it on a couple of characters.

Other time was mostly spent on Silvy. She actually completed Hirathi Highlands, and is only level 40. This is kind of crazy. Only gained 5 levels while completing a 10 level zone. Anyway, I'm trying to become really familiar with Gendarren Forest and Hirathi Highlands, as I do those on all my characters.

I did play Blondy a bit. I've now got Flame Elemental and Shadow behemoth routines down, and will try out some other World Bosses to get familiar with them as time allows. FE and SB are nice, because they're 45 mins past each hour (FE odd hours, SB even hours) and are pretty easy to get to.

Other than that, I leveled Jewelcrafting up a bit, after realizing that it didn't need any tier 3 fine materials. So, it was easy getting it past tier 3 with all the gems I had. I also did my first laurel purchase, and purchased 5 Tier 6 mat bags. Even selling to just buy orders, this netted me 5g20s. Also, with the gold I had (40+) I bought 40g worth of Gems. Starting to build up my Gem stash for when things go on sale again.
